Oily Skin Issues: Milia, Whiteheads, Blackheads, Open Sores
Finding out about oily skin issues...
Oily skin issues can encompass a variety of skin issues and, they are all related. Oil is produced by the oil glad which is located within the hair follicle unit (pilosebaceous unit-PSU). The oil or sebum produced is a waxy substance that assists with the waterproofing of our skin and assisting the skins ability to retain moisture.
The amount of oil produced is basically determined by genetics and our hormone levels. Some people just produce too much oil and although we can’t control what we have inherited we can influence, reduce or normalise the oil production.
The excess oil production is often aggravated by excess shedding of cells through the opening of the hair follicle. It’s this combination that can lead to blackheads, whiteheads or clogged pores and milia, or too much oil can just simply give you an unwanted shine. Often if you have oily skin you have larger pores so by reducing oil production your pore size will slightly reduce.
Reduce Your Oil
So to help reduce your oil, you need good guidance on skin care, make up (if you wear it) and other treatments. We will guide you to the correct skin care and make up. Often simply by changing your skin care and make up will settle your oil production to the stage that you will notice a significant reduction in oil, blackheads and pimples.
Other treatments to help: A regular Medi-cleanse facial can be beneficial though the benefit of the treatment will last only a few weeks.
Our emphasis is to always get you to be able to manage your skin with less reliance on our clinic as we don’t get you back for treatment after treatment.
