IPL Skin Rejuvenation - Intense Pulse Light Skin Rejuvenation...

I.P.L has the ability to emit high-energy pulses in both Red & Yellow light. Yellow light targets the stagnant blood caught in the capillaries which cause unsightly ‘spider’ veins on the face. It cauterizes the blood then the body naturally heals the site over a few weeks. The Red light is attracted to colour so it draws pigmentation, caused by sun damage, to the surface which then quickly exfoliates away. Because IPL uses a much broader spectrum of light than laser, it is suitable for a wider range skin types. Furthermore, IPL treats a much larger area of skin per light pulse than laser, which can be faster & more cost effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Anything to be are aware of?

Some people are more sensitive to light than others, so be completely honest when filling out the consultation form. A patch test is required regardless, even if you have had treatments elsewhere, and especially if you have had any recent solarium treatments or sun exposure. Prior to your treatments our trained technicians will discuss in detail how I.P.L works and will assess if it is suitable for you. In some cases you may even see an immediate effect for skin rejuvenation.

Are there any side effects?

With the majority of treatments there are little to no side effects, so you can resume your normal routine immediately. After the treatments a slight redness and/or odema may occur, and we see this as a good result. If pigmentation is being treated then the lesion will darken in colour within a couple of hours. Next a Lymph Drainage treatment is scheduled within a period of 4-7 days after the initial treatment to improve circulation and speed up the process. The darkened areas will take up to 5-10 days to heal and for the area to naturally exfoliate away.

How many sessions are needed?

This is again dependant upon the treatment and individual. However, as a guide, red vein treatments are usually 3 to 4 weeks apart with a 6 week break after the 4th treatment. Pigmentation treatments only need 2 to 3 sessions. If the pigment is due to hormonal reasons it usually does not respond to light therapy but other treatments, such as skin peels which can greatly improve the intensity.

What is involved?

It’s simple, you wear protective eyewear, lie back and relax while the operator moves the hand piece slowly over the area firing the light exactly where required. The treatment takes less than 30mins for skin rejuvenation. Most people will experience minimal discomfort, feeling no more than a warm flick on the skin, however, cooling can be applied to minimize this sensation. I.P.L can be used to treat most skin types and any area of the body (except under the eyebrow).
